Thousand Islands Public Library Provides Pick-up Books Service

Book can be borrowed via WA to officers on each residential island whose numbers have been distributed

The Thousand Islands Regency Public Library provides a pick-up books service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thousand Islands Technical Working Unit I Head Ade Slamet said the service was provided to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19, either from officers or residents who borrow books.

Next Week, 50 RPTRAs in Central Jakarta will Be Reopened to Public

"Book can be borrowed via WA to officers on each residential island whose numbers have been distributed. After that the officer will deliver the books to the customer," he said, Wednesday (10/14).

He explained the book return mechanism is done by a jemput bola system (officers to take the initiative to visit residents).

"We make sure they (officers) wear masks and gloves and minimize direct contact," he explained.

He added special treatment was also carried out on books that had been borrowed. The book would be put in a plastic bag and then would be dried or aerated when it arrived at the office.

"After drying, the books will be placed on the quarantine shelf for three days before being transferred to the main bookshelf. Surely it can minimize the spread of the coronavirus," he explained.

As for the information, information on reading books and storybooks, library staff will update information on book titles and synopses via Instagram @perpustakaankep.seribu and Facebook account, Perpustakaan Kepulauan Seribu.
